What I'm working on!
Commissioned to Choreograph for AXIS Dance Company
Above is a video of the work I set on AXIS Dance Company in 2019, during my second year as a choreographer for ChoreoLab, The Girl Who Drew Cats. In this image, the dancers stand or sit in a single file line, filmed on a diagonal so that the rises and falls of their differing heights is visible and striking. All of the dancers are milky tea to creamy coffee skinned, with dark hair, wearing a stone fruit's bruise of blue and red range jewel tones. This year, I will create a new work for the company's repertoire, premiering in their 2021 Home Season at Z Space in San Francisco. Title and description forthcoming.
Lover of Low Creatures Official Trailer
I premiered my second full-length musical Lover of Low Creatures: The Exorcism of Snow at Velocity Dance Center in Seattle in spring 2019. It was set to be reproduced at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute in January 2021, but Miss Rona had other ideas. Luckily my partner in crime, Saira Barbaric and I were up to the challenge! We decided to get to work making a film adaptation of the show. We have teamed up with Alyza Delpan-Monley, Kate O'Day, Evan Flory-Barnes, and Rajah Makonnen, and are doing every we need to do to reimagine this story for film, with the hope of starting production in Winter/Spring 2022.
